Below you can read an abstract :
A Novel Permanent Antistatic Agent for Industrial Packaging
Polyolefins such as polyethylene and polypropylene are used in a wide variety of end-use applications ranging from automotive parts to packaging for foods and electrical components. Due to its chemical make-up, polyolefins have insulating properties that allow electrostatic build up on their surface. Such electrostatic charging causes many problems; for example, dust attraction in molded parts, sticking to equipment during processing and damage to sensitive electronic chips and devices. Today, the addition of antistatic agents is the most practical solution to prevent formation of static electricity in polyolefins. The mechanism by which conventional types of function is migration to the surface and moisture adsorption. Therefore, the antistatic performance depends on the humidity and the effect is usually temporary.
ADEKA has a polymeric antistatic agent that can provide long-term antistatic effect due to its excellent compatibility with polyolefins. The result of this work reveals its effectiveness compared with conventional type products. In addition, this effect is demonstrated under low humidity condition and achieves the 109 ohms/sq of surface resistivity needed for polymers used in static dissipative applications.
